-The systems are built with industrial diaphragm valves double stage regulators, not normal aquarium co2 regulators
that are
Pin/spring valves design. Double stage ensure no
Out Put Pressure Rise
which cause EOTD and lost of fauna in the tank. Diaphragm valves guarantee less issue with the valve leaking and always ensure on/close and hold steady the desired output pressure at each valve stage.
-Solenoid is part of the system that enable a timer/automation control of the co2 injection. Reliable solenoids with extremely low power consumption, s
mall orifice and
high on/off life cycles,
are good candidates because the co2 flow rate is extremely low in our application, but these solenoids are not available in commercially ready co2 systems due to high cost, we have to find and put them on the co2 systems ourselves.
-High precision metering valve, this is the part that control and hold steady the desired co2 flow rate. Higher the precision, easier the adjustment capability and less flow rate drift issue. Some of the industrial grade metering valve involved in these DIY type high end co2 systems, are with original price tags same as the co2 systems that built with the valves.
Three major components of this co2 system:
1.
Harris 9296
heavy duty brass stock double stage pressure regulator.  input pressure max 3000 psi, output pressure 0 - 45 psi, this is a good condition refurbished industrial grade double stage diaphragm pressure regulator.
2.
Burkert 6011
solenoid, brass valve body, 4 watts low power consumption, warm to the touch, low risk of heat damage, 0 - 87 psi, 24V DC, power adapter included.
3.
Ideal valves
series 2 angle pattern with vernier handle, brass. Its precision is not as good as the series 1 model, but CO2 flow rate is easily manageable compare to the normal aquarium needle valves.
This system works with various co2 fusion methods: regular or inline diffuser/atomizer, co2 reactors, calcium reactors, ph controller..
This system works with both freshwater planted tank and saltwater reef tank, but recommend for freshwater use because it is bare brass, for saltwater a chrome plated or stainless steel co2 system stands better chance against surface corrosion.
How to use this system
:
Normal operating procedure for a pressure regulator, but a couple things worth mentioned to avoid mistakes, especially if it is first time to use a pressurized co2 cylinder:
1. make sure the washer in place when connect to a co2 cylinder/tank, hand tight then wrench tight the cga320 nut.
2. the pressure adjust handle is at close position(all the way
counter
clockwise) while charging the system with pressurized co2.
3. open the co2 cylinder valve slowly.
